Oct 29, 2008 (newstodate): The Icelandic-owned LCC Sterling, based at Copenhagen Airport, has filed for bankruptcy.
The bankruptcy will leave some 30 aircraft on the ground, while a yet-unknown number of passengers are left stranded around the carrier's European destinations.
Also some 1,100 staff will lose employment after last-ditch efforts to find new investors ended without results.
