Oct 9, 2008 (newstodate): With the effects from the current global financial crisis, the sky is no longer the sole limit for cargo growth by Finnair Cargo.
Breaking a long-sustained record of strong volumes growth, Finnair Cargo saw its total loads down by 7.7 percent, y-o-y, in September 2008.
The carrier thus lifted a total of 8,648 tonnes of cargo, including 5,663 tonnes of Asian cargo that also dropped 2.7 percent.
The second most important segment, European cargo, was also down 14.9 percent to 1,785 tonnes, as were loads on all other segments as well.
2008 remains marked by strong increases, tojgh, with total volumes at 78,225 tonnes increasing 10 percent, y-o-y, during the first nine months.
Decreasing volumes and incrased capacity downed Finnair Cargo's cargo load factor by 4.4 percentage-points, to 61.3 in September.
