Oct 6, 2008 (newstodate): Finland and the Philippines have signed their first air services agreement, allowing for the opening of air traffic between the two markets.
While Philippine Airlines is unlikely to be considering opening of flight to Finland, Finnair is reportedly including flights to the Philipines in their planning for a later stage as their Airbus longhaul aircraft fleet expands.
The new agreement will allow for four weekly flights between Helsinki and Manila, as well as Fifth freedom rights to one point in Asia, which would allow Finnair to operate flights to Manila by an extension of their existing routes to Asia.
The agreeement also comprises provisions for one daily flight to the Clark Special Economic Zone, and seven weekly flights to other airports in the Philippines.
