Oct 22, 2008 (newstodate): Cathay Pacific Cargo has yet to make a final decision on whether to launch new freigher traffic at Sweden's Luleaa Kallax Airport.
-The decision will be made at our Headquarters in Hong Kong, and so far nothing has been officially finalised, says Magnus Glans, Cathay Pacific Cargo manager Sweden.
-We are well aware that several other carriers have been approached by Kallax Cargo, but we are certainly working on the case, and if the decision should be to open traffic at Kallax it will not be launched before some time in 2009, he says.
The Kallax Cargo projects envisages a freighter service from Kallax to markets in Asia, including China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, driven by Norwegian salmon exports, as well as other exports from producers in the northernmost regions of neighbouring countries Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
-We have actually not carried any Norwegian salmon to Hong Kong for the last year or so, as this export is lifted by other carriers, says Mr Glans.
