Oct 28, 2008 (newstodate): Budapest Ferihegy Airport has started renovation works on both runways.
The reconstruction of runway I is planned for October 27 to November 1, and the renovation of runway II is expected to last from November 3 to 7.
The airport will thus exploit the relative calm between the end of the busy summer schedule and the early start of the forthcoming winter traffic program.
The maintenance works include the cleaning and repainting of the basalt concrete runways with a total area of about 400,000 sq m, as well as the complete replacement of the airfield lighting system.
