Oct 1, 2008 (newstodate): A tender, supported by EBRD, has been opened for stage 2 in the modernisation of Armenia's Zvartnots Airport.
The first part of the project was completed in May, 2007, with the first phase of the Passenger Terminal, presently housing Arrivals.
The next stage comprises construction and purchase of equipment for the second phase of the Passenger Terminal complex at Zvartnots International Airport, to complete the Airport Terminal development by reallocating all operations, arrivals and departures, from the old Airport building.
Since December 17, 2001, Zvartnots Airport has been managed under a 30-year contract with Armenian International Airports, owned by Eduardo Eurnekian, Argentina.
The airport's passenger volumes have grown by 50 percent over only three years, to 1.5 mio in 2007.
