Oct 15, 2008 (newstodate): With three new MD-11F and two Boeing 737-300F freighters now in the fleet, Aeroflot Cargo is set un a growth course.
The company saw its cargo volumes up by 20 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 110,842 tonnes during the first nine months of this year.
Behind the impressive growth are significant changes in the capacity contributions from Aeroflot belly compartments and Aeroflot Cargo's freighter fleet.
In January-September Aeroflot belly capacity contributed 11 percent of the total cargo volume, while Boeing 737 freighters contributed two percent, MD-11F 11 percent, and DC-10 freighters 29 percent.
In September the contribution from Aeroflot belly capacity was still 11 percent, but MD-11F contribution had increased to 37 percent and DC-10 freighters' contribution had decreased to 11 percent. The contribution from Boeing 737 freighters was now one percent of the total tonnage carried.
