Jan 23, 2008 (newstodate): Lipetsk has been selected as the site for a US project to build a new multi-modal logistics center in Russia.
Plans for the transport centre includes an airport, a river port, railway and trucking terminals, and an international air junction in the North Caucasus.
The current Lipetsk Airport has a 2,300 m runway serving only Polet Airlines' small aircraft, but work is progressing on obtaining international certification of the airport that is also to have a new runway.
