Jan 21, 2008 (newstodate): Serbia seems determined to ignore EU's warning not to consider a non-EU airline in its plans for the coming JAT privatisation tender.
Serbia's minister of infrastructure reportedly told media that Aeroflot cannot be excluded from the international tender as Aeroflot's offer seems to be profitable as it gives JAT the option to develop into a large airline with many new aircraft and job opportunities.
EU maintains that Serbia's accession to the Open Skies Agreement means that majority ownership and control of an Serbian airline has to be either Serbian or from the EU + Norway and Iceland.
