Jan 24, 2008 (newstodate): Before the end of this quarter, the Russian carrier UTAir will receive its first Boeing 737-500 aircraft under a scheme to replace its fleet of ageing TU-154 aircraft.
The carrier has announced plans to take up to 18 Boeing 737-500, all on operating lease arrangements with Continental Airlines.
The second aircraft will arrive in Q1, and a total of seven Boeing 737-500 aircraft will be on the roster before the end of 2008.
UTAir will also acquire a further three ATR-72 aircraft during the first half of this year.
The carrier has earlier said that it ill open 19 new routes in 2008.
