Jan 3, 2008 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Transaero is expanding its long-haul route network.
On December 24, the airline performed its first flight on the new route from Moscow via Hong Kong to Sydney, Australia.
Also new in 2007 were routes from Moscow to Kuala Lumpur and to Shanghai, and from St Petersburg to Shanghai.
In 2008 the carrier plans to start operations from St Petersburg to Tokyo.
The carrier has also taken possession of its - and Russia's - first Boeing 747-400 aircraft that arrived on December 20.
