Jan 2, 2008 (newstodate): With effect from December 29, 2007, Moscow Domodedovo Airport's second runway attained operational status.
With the new runway the airport's capacity has been boosted to 60 movements per hour, with potentials to go as high as 90 operations per hour when authorities grant permit to use the two runways, separated by two km, simultaneously.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport now offers the highest capacity per hour of the capital's three airports, and will be able to handle aircraft of any size, including the A380.
