Jan 23, 2008 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport is planning for significant developments in 2008.
The airport is currently expecting three new airlines to start operations, including Armavia from March, 2008, Germanwings from May and a third, yet-unannounced carrier in the latter part of this year.
Riga Airport is also to extend the runway, currently 2,550 m, to allow for introduction of more intercontinental flights with large aircraft.
The runway extension is expected to be completed before the end of 2008.
