Pristina International Airport was granted license by Icelandic Civil Aviation Authorities in April 2004 to operate as an international airport, but due to lack of qualified staff, Iceland continued to provide ATC staff and management.
On July 1, 2007, Kosovo finally took over full control of the airport's management and staff, and the ATC services.
