Jan 4, 2008 (newstodate): In 2007, Hamburg Airport saw a 9.3 percent growth in air cargo volumes.
In total, the airport handled 84,500 tonnes of air cargo during the year, against 77,307 tonnes in 2006 when the growth was 2.7 percent, y-o-y.
In September, 2007, Emirates SkyCargo launched a weekly freighter operation to Hamburg, using an Airbus A310-300F aircraft with 39 tonnes of cargo capacity on the route.
A study on the airport's cargo performance has shown that only one-third of the air cargo volumes destined for or generated by Hamburg Airport's immediate catchment area is actually handled by the airport - and of this volume, only one-third flies into or out from Hamburg Airport.
