Jan 3, 2008 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport set a new record in 2007 with a total of 58,617 tonnes of air cargo handled.
This was an increase by 4.7 percent, y-o-y, despite a significant drop in import volumes, down 3.9 percent to 26,071 tonnes in 2007, but decreasing steeply during the last six months, especially.
Exports fared better, up 12.7 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 32,546 tonnes.
The airport has decided to seek a strategic partner for its cargo handling business, or selling it off after having set up the cargo unit as a separate business entity.
A decision on the future of the airport's cargo handling business is awaited during the first half of 2008.
