Jan 28, 2008 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo and DHGL Aviation have today announced AeroLogic as name of their new cargo carrier joint venture.
DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo each have a 50 per cent stake in AeroLogic, which will be based in Leipzig/Schkeuditz at Leipzig/Halle Airport.
AeroLogic will start operations with Boeing 777-200LRF aircraft by the 2009 summer timetable.
The first four aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2009, four more freighters will follow in 2010, a further two in 2011, and plans are to add a reserve aircraft to the fleet in 2012.
The new company is now seeking 200 pilots to man the aircraft on flights to destinations in Asia and the USA.
