Sep 25, 2007 (newstodate): The World Bank may support Tatarstan in modernising Kazan International Airport.
A manager of the World Bank's Infrastructure Economics and Finance Department is currently visiting Tatarstan to meet with top officials of the Tatarstan Republic.
At the current stage the World Bank considers itself a strategic consultant, but is has not ruled out the possibility of supporting the reconstruction of the airport financially.
The World Bank might also help the airport in connecting it with an international partner to take a stake in the project.
The reconstruction project is estimated to carry a price tag of USD40-50 million for the airport to meet fully international standards
