Sep 20, 2007 (newstodate): Sweden's Pajala Airport, in Lappland close to the Finnish border, is amidst an extensive modernisation project.
On November 29, the airport will opfficially inaugurate its 2,300 m runway after expansion and equipment with new airfield lighting systems.
Also in progress is a new international terminal.
The airport has been closed during the construction period, and the first flight was handled on September 19 after a five-week delay
