Sep 26, 2007 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo still shrouds its plans for a new cargo terminal at Helsinki in mist.
Earlier this year, Finnair Cargo's managing director, Antero Lahtinen, lifted an edge of the veil around the project in an interview with an Asian trade media.
-We need a great deal more space for the needs of our growing Asian traffic. Our long-haul fleet is expanding strongly in the coming years, so we estimate cargo loads to double in less than ten years. In response to this, our goal is to increase cargo terminal capacity from the current level, said Mr Lahtinen.
In 2006 Finnair Cargo generated a total of 94,000 tonnes of cargo, and the existing Finnair Cargo terminal handled 125,000 tonnes of cargo.
According to earlier information gathered by newstodate, Finnair Cargo plans for a new terminal with an initial annual capacity at 150,000 tonnes.
