Sep 19, 2007 (newstodate): With direct flights from 13 airports in Russia and the CIS, Lufthansa Cargo is a strong player in the region.
Following on a 13 percent growth in 2006 in the carrier's import tonnages into Russia and the CIS, the growth during January-July 2007 was 17 percent, y-o-y, indicating an even higher full-year growth.
In 2006 Lufthansa Cargo experienced a 12 percent growth in its ex-Russia/CIS tonnage, but this dropped to minus 11 percent, y-o-y, during January-July 2007 due to shortfall of cargo capacity as Lufthansa replaced its Airbus A340 with A300-600 on the main routes.
