Sep 13, 2007 (newstodate): The Danish airport at Odense, on the central island of Funen, has been put up for sale.
The sale will be effected through a formal and open EU tender, and the prospective new owner is expected to be able to take over the airport by next year.
The airport, with a 2,000 m runway, is currently owned by three regional communities, and has operated in the red for years.
Odense Airport was earlier a major Danish domestic airport, but the scheduled domestic traffic ceased after the inauguration of the Storebaelt bridge connecting with Sealand and the capital region.
