Aug 2, 2007 (newstodate): Norway is seeing a sustained increase in its exports of fresh salmon to the Asian markets.
In this year's first half, Norway exported a total of 15,100 tonnes of fresh salmon to Japan, its single largest markets. This was an increase by 10.5 percent, y-o-y.
Market growth during H1 in the new Asian markets for Norway's salmon exports is even more significant.
China imported a total of 4,800 tonnes of fresh Norwegian salmon, an increase by 91.9 percent.
Korea imported 4,024 tonnes of fresh Norwegian salmon, up 86 percent.
The strongest growth was, however, seen in Taiwan that imported 3,333 tonnes of fresh Norwegian salmon, an increase by 271.5 percent, y-o-y.
