Aug 21, 2007 (newstodate): Reflecting the large influx of new freighter carriers, air cargo volumes are growing fast at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
While complete statistics are yet inavailable, the airport now expects total volumes during this year's January-June to reach 85,465 tonnes, against 67,709 tonnes during H1/2006.
-This is an increase by 26.2 percent, and we are still seeing a fair balance between imports and exports, says Bjorn Ragnebrink, LFV director air cargo development.
-The import/export ratio this year is roughly 48/52 percent against 44/56 percent in last year's H1, says Mr Ragnebrink.
The significant growth in cargo volumes in 2007 reflects the aiport's recent success in attracting Boeing 747-400F freighter services from Korean Airlines Cargo, China Airlines Cargo, Cathay Pacific Cargo, and Jade Air Cargo.
