Aug 21, 2007 (newstodate): Before 2010, the Russian carrier Transaero plans to replace its current fleet of Boeing 747-200 with Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Russia's second-largest international carrier, Transero was Russia's first airline to introduce the Boeing Jumbo on its route network from 2005, now operating a fleet of six aircraft.
As the Boeing 747-400 enters the fleet, the Boeing 747-200 aircraft will be converted into freighters to boost the carrier's cargo capacity.
The carrier has also ordered six Boeing 747-300 aircraft, the first of which will be delivered later this autumn.
