Aug 20, 2007 (newstodate): Russia's Tolmachevo Airport, at Novosibirsk, is preparing to launch a project for building a new multi-modal cargo terminal.
The project is part of a masterplan for modernisation of the airport, prepared by the German consultancy firm Obermeyer Planen + Beraten earlier this year.
The cargo complex, to be designed with a daily handling capacity of 300 tonnes, calls for investments of some 245 mio Russian rubles, 25 percent of which will be shouldered by the airport itself.
During January-May the airport handled a total of 6,262 tonnes of cargo and mail, up 12.5 percent, y-o-y.
