Aug 31, 2007 (newstodate): In September, the Russian Tolmachevo Airport, at Novosibirsk, will open the first phase of its new cargo terminal.
The terminal will have a capacity of handling up to 150,000 tonnes of cargo.
Construction wirk on the next phase of the cargo complex will be completed in 2008, adding another 150,000 tonnes of capacity.
The cargo terminal is an element in the masterplan produced by the German consultancy firm Obermeyer Planen + Beraten for modernisation of Tolmachevo Airport.
The masterplan details the projects needed to turn Tolmachevo Airport into an international air traffic hub, with total investments running into some 20 billion Russian rubles, of which 245 mio Rubles will be spent on the cargo complex.
