Aug 13, 2007 (newstodate): Ufa International Airport has now completed a major series of projects to upgrade its infrastructure.
Ufa Airport, in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, has opened a new domestic terminal and completed work on runways, apron and taxiways, including new airfield lighting systems.
Ufa Airport, one of Russia's 12 strategically important gateways and home base for Bashkortostan and Ufa Airlines, has two runways with taxiways and two airport terminals with a combined capacity up to five million passengers.
The airport is in the process of being transferred from state to regional ownership, but the federal government will continue to take financial responsibility for runways and basic infrastructure, excluding terminals.
