Aug 22, 2007 (newstodate): After its return to the world economy, Libya has embarked on a plan to modernise its aviation infrastructure.
At Tripoli's capital airport a new passnger terminal will be constructed, and a new airport is to built at Libya's second largest city, Benghazi.
The work at Tripoli Airport has been contracted to six companies including Vinci of France, Oderbrecht of Brazil and TAV of Turkey, under the supervision of a French research consultancy, and is estimated to cost some one bio euro.
Another two bio euro have been reserved for the upgrading of Libya's other airports, including Ghat, Ghadames, and Sebha.
