Aug 28, 2007 (newstodate): Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government is keen to see the resumption of Austrian Airlines' flights to Erbil.
Following the alledged missile attack on a Swedish commercial aircraft after take-off from Suleimaniyah, Austrian Airlines decided to suspend its services from Vienna to Erbil from August 25.
Together with the airport authorities of Erbil International Airport and Sulaimaniyah International Airport, the Regional Government is now in discussion with Austrian, hoping for an early resumption of its four times-weekly flights to Erbil.
While the Swedish CAA has banned all flights
to Iraqi Kurdistan, flights from Dubai, Istanbul, Amman and other cities to Erbil and Sulaimaniyah are operating as normal.
