Aug 28, 2007 (newstodate): The progress of the FastShip project has sailed into turbulent waters.
-We are just working our way through the turmoil in the financial markets, just like everyone else, says Kate Chambers, FastShip spokeswoman.
In June, FastShip told newstodate that it was in the final stages of solidifying core freight commitments for about one third of the capacity offered, while continuing to pursue other commitments on an ad hoc basis.
The FastShip capacity tender was opened on January 31, 2007, throwing up to 1.3 million tonnes capacity unto the market for trans-Atlantic freight transport by three JetShips to ply the sea in 3.5 days between projected new port facilities to be built at Philadelphia and Cherbourg.
