Aug 30, 2007 (newstodate): Spirit Air Cargo Handling, a subsidiary of SAS Cargo, is now preparing to start construction of a new cargo terminal at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
-After a relocation of the current logistics systems at the airport, construction work will start in about two months, and the new facility providing 5,000 sq m terminal space for Spirit will become operative from the end of 2008, says Anders Skantz, Spirit Air Cargo Handling managing director.
The expansion is a result of an agreement between Spirit Air Cargo Handling and Nordic Airport Properties.
-Gothenburg Airport is situated strategically very well in the middle of Scandinavia in a highly industrialized region close to Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen. This makes it an attractive destination for many air cargo operators, says Mr Skantz.
According to Mr Skantz, the company has been forced to reject potential customers due to lack of space in the current facilities at the airport.
