Aug 8, 2007 (newstodate): Plans for several years for direct non-stop Boeing 747 flights by Baltia Air Lines between New York JFK and St Petersburg are revived again in 2007.
Displaying a renewed website, Baltia Air Lines claims to have secured a three-year lease contract for a Boeing 747-200 aircraft, and space at Terminal 4 at New York JFK International Airport for its base of operations.
The airline says it will commence operation this year between New York and St Petersburg, Russia.
Initially, the airline plans to offer once-weekly services during the first four to six weeks, later increasing to three weekly services and, after the first six months, to five to seven weekly flights.
Further down the line are plans for routes from New York to Moscow, Kiev, Minsk, and Riga.
