Aug 31, 2007 (newstodate): SAS Cargo's Spirit Air Cargo Handling plans to break ground for a new cargo terminal at Stockholm in September.
The terminal will be built by NAP, a JV between Swedish LFV and GECAS, and rented out to Spirit Air Cargo Handling.
While the final details of the new projects have still not been released, earlier plans called for the building of a 12-14,000 sq m terminal to become operational by early 2009, with plans for later expansion to 20-25,000 sq m.
The new SAS Cargo terminal will be built in the current Arlanda Cargo City area, near its competitor Cargo Centre, to reduce internal transfers and multiple handling to a minimum.
Talks over the new SAS Cargo terminal have been going on since 2005, with long periods of suspension and changes of concept.
