Aug 3, 2007 (newstodate): Boeing has changed the delivery scheme for Aeroflot Cargo's six MD-11F aircraft, causing the carrier to seek ways to compensate for the shortfall of capacity.
Boeing was to deliver three of the aircraft in 2007, and the last three in 2008.
Instead, Aeroflot Cargo will only receive three aircraft before 2009, with delivery of the first by November 2007 rather than July as originally planned.
In May, Aeroflot Cargo thus acquired two ex-Finnair MD-11 aircraft, now being converted to freighters at SASCO in Singapore for entry into service with Aeroflot Cargo by October 2009.
Aeroflot Cargo has now also acquired one MD-11 aircraft from the Australian investment company Babcock & Brown.
By the end of 2009 Aeroflot Cargo will thus have six MD-11F and three IL-96-400 freighter in its fleet, with the current four DC-10-40F aircraft being phased out.
