Jul 26, 2007 (newstodate): Iceland's Keflavik Airport reports a growth in June by 4.8 percent in cargo and mail volumes.
In total the airport handled 5,024 tonnes of cargo, including 2,552 tonnes of exports, down 3.26 percent, and 2,472 tonnes of imports, up 14.7 percent.
During the first half year 2007 the airport handled 31,145 tonnes of cargo, up 1.7 percent, y-o-y.
Totals comprise 17,324 tonnes of exports, down 2.2 percent, and 12,917 tonnes of imports, up seven percent.
The statistics are ambiguous, however, as the airport does not count transfer cargo as a separate category, listing it instead twice as import and export.
Icelandair, the airport's single largest operator, however, sees it main growth coming from transfer cargo between Europe and North America.
