Jul 24, 2007 (newstodate): Significant decreases in the North Atlantic and European volumes held back Finnair Cargo's growth in June.
Total volumes in scheduled traffic grew a modest 2.3 percent, to 7,155 tonnes as the North Atlantic volumes dipped by 23.5 percent to 606 tonnes, and the European volumes were down nine percent to 1,823 tonnes.
On the positive side, the carrier's Asian volumes continued to expand, up 15.2 percent to 4,464 tonnes.
Scheduled charter traffic performed nicely, with volumes up 13 percent to 711 tonnes.
The carrier's total volumes were thus up 3.5 percent to 9,907 tonnes in June.
For the period January-June, total volumes carried were up 0.6 percent to 45,200 tonnes, driven by a 19.3 percent growth in the Asian traffic, totalling 25,587 tonnes and thus constituting almost 57 percent of the total tonnage due to the airline's sustained growth in Asian traffic and destinations.
