Jun 14, 2007 (newstodate): During the third quarter of this year, the Russian airport Tolmachevo at Novosibirsk, home base for S7 Siberia Airlines, will start operations with a new cargo terminal currently under construction.
The opening marks the completion of the first phase of the cargo terminal project, in addition to the set up of new road feeder services, and construction of an expanded cargo area at the airport.
During the first five months of 2007, the airport generated a total of 6,263 tonnes of cargo and mail, up 12.5 percent, y-o-y.
Exports of cargo and mail on domestic routes were 2,196 tones, up 11.3 percent, while export loads on international flights were down 29.4 percent to 126 tonnes.
Imports of cargo and mail on domestic routes were 3,265 tonnes, up 7.9 percent, while import loads on international flights were up 72.9 percent to 677 tonnes.
In 2006 the airport generated a total of 16,509 tonnes of cargo and mail.
