Jun 22, 2007 (newstodate): The new Russian regional jet, the Sukhoi SuperJet 100 has landed its first Western customer.
The Italian regional carrier ItAli Airlines has signed a contract to take 10 SuperJets with options for a further 10 aircraft.
The new aircraft will replace the carrier's current fleet of MD-83 and Dornier 328 aircraft and will serve domestic routes as well as routes between Italy and destinations in Eastern Europe.
Aeroflot will be the first operator of the SuperJet from November, 2008, according to plan.
