Jun 21, 2007 (newstodate): The new Swedish airline, Fly Excellent that landed its AOC earlier this month is now in the air.
First flight was on Sunday, June 17 on an assignment for Sterling.
The carrier operates one MD-83 aircraft and expects to take in its second MD-83 within two weeks.
-Fly Excellent will be an ACMI provider to airlines with a need for ad-hoc or longer-term extra capacity, and as we have entered the market rather late in the season we have to start out with ad-hoc operations. But we are already in talks with airlines over longer-term contracts from the winter season, says Matthias Johnsson, Fly Excellent flight operations manager.
-We acknowledge that the MD-83 is not exactly a modern, fuel-efficient aircraft but in the current market conditions it is next to impossible to find newer aircraft available. We are of course looking into future possibilities for Airbus or Boeing aircraft, says mr Johnsson.
