Jun 13, 2007 (newstodate): Prague Ruzyne Airport is preparing for construction of a new runway.
The airport is currently working on the EIA, Environmental Impact Assessment, documentation to be submitted to the Ministry of the Environment by the end of October this year.
The planned runway will be parallel to the existing Runway 06-24, in midway distance of 1,525 metres, so that both runways can be operated independently.
It will replace the existing Runway 04-22, which has been out of operation for a long time and is only used to park aircraft.
The new 3,550 m runway will be built to comply with ICAO's CAT III standards.
