Jun 7, 2007 (newstodate): Even if already close to saturation as to Asian freighter capacity, a new Asian freighter company is now targeting Sweden and Scandinavia.
With effect from July 17, the Korean carrier Asiana will operate a freighter service from Incheon to Gothenburg Landvetter, starting with a once-weekly rotation, and expanding to twice-wekly services from this autumn.
The carrier has named Air Trade Support as its cargo GSA in Sweden.
-This is a prime carrier for us as it provides not only excellent service to Korea, but also a wide range of destinations in the Asian region as well as Australia, says Soren Eng, ATS managing director.
-We are of course aware that the Swedish market is now amply served by Asian freighters, reflecting in low rates and over-capacity, but Asiana is clearly an asset in providing extensive access to so many other markets in the Asia/Pacific region.
