Jun 4, 2007 (newstodate): Mongolia is to radically increase its civil aviation infrastructure over the coming years.
While renovating the Chingis Khaan International Airport at Ulaan Bator, Mongolia plans to replace it with an entirely new international airport to be built over the coming 10 years.
The existing airport is operationally restricted by its location marked by unfavorable climatic conditions, strong winds and mountainous surroundings, which makes a full implementation of ICAO standards difficult.
Mongolia is also planning for the future construction of four new domestic airports.
