Jun 4, 2007 (newstodate): While keeping a low media profile, the FastShip project is indeed advancing.
-We are in the final stages of solidifying core freight commitments for about one third of our capacity, which exceeded our goal. We continue to pursue other commitments on an ad hoc basis at this time, says Kate Chambers, FastShip spokeswoman.
-Our attention is now focused on the other key elements needed to finalise the financing.
The FastShip capacity tender was opened on January 31, 2007, throwing up to 1.3 million tonnes capacity unto the market for trans-Atlantic freight transport by three JetShips to ply the sea in 3.5 days between projected new port facilities to be built at Philadelphia and Cherbourg.
