Jun 21, 2007 (newstodate): EU is moving towards an open-skies agreement with Canada.
The Canadian minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities med with the Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for transport in Ottawa yesterday to discuss joint transportation initiatives between Canada and the European Union.
Canada currently has bilateral agreements with 19 of the 27 European Union Member States.
A proposed Aviation Safety Agreement to formalize Canada's relationship with the European Commission was also discussed. The agrement would promote cost-efficiency for the Canadian aerospace industry and avoid duplication of approval processes.
