Jun 29, 2007 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways has signed a firm order for six Airbus A320 aircraft, further enlarging its Airbus fleet.
The carrier's fleet currently comprises three A-310, four Boeing 767-300, six Boeing 757-200, , and three RJ-85 aircraft, and plans are to remove all ageing Soviet-built aircraft from service.
The decision of the airline for Airbus A320 follows a thorough evaluation process where the alternative was Boeing 737-800.
Uzbekistan Airways will place the new A320 aircraft on domestic as well as on international routes, including destinations such as Delhi, Amristar and Lahore, as part of a dynamic route expansion plan.
The carrier currently operates scheduled flights to more than 40 cities around the world in the US, Europe, Middle East and Central Asia, and has plans to increase the number of destinations in the coming years.
