Jun 7, 2007 (newstodate): Being first out in the market may be an important asset, but the second to follow may gain some benefits as well..
Boeing has claerly taken the lead in number of orders for its Boeing 787 Dreamliner now totalling 584 aircraft for 45 customers.
This success also means that a new customer, like S7 Siberia Airlines, will now have to wait till 2014 to receive its first aircraft.
Airbus has been set back with its A350 program, but the re-launched A350XWB with 173 orders booked will now enter into service by 2013 as well, so a new customer ordering the A350 today will probably be able to pick up his aircraft earlier than would have been the case if ordering the Boeing Dreamliner.
Airbus is reportedly considering an A350XWB production rate at 13 per month by 2016.
