Jun 6, 2007 (newstodate): The expanding Icelandic ACMI provider Air Atlanta Icelandic will soon see a change in ownership.
Its current owner, Eimskip, that derives some 20 percent of its turnover from Air Atlanta has decided to focus on its core businesses transportation, shipping and coldstores globally.
Eimskip has assigned Hannes Hilmarsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic CEO, and ABN Amro Bank to undertake a strategic review of Eimskip's aviation related assets, including identifying potential buyers for 100 percent of the shares in Air Atlanta.
Also to be sold off by Eimskip is its 49 percent stake in Avion Aircraft Trading, AAT.
-We consider this situation an opportunity for Air Atlanta Icelandic. The company has grown to become a leading global player in the ACMI market, and has built up a strong position in the cargo wide body aircraft market following fleet restructuring in 2006, says Hannes Hilmarsson, Air Atlanta CEO.
-Air Atlanta Icelandic is in excellent situation to expand its fleet, and does therefore present a valuable position in the fast growing long-haul air cargo market.
