May 31, 2007 (newstodate): The Ukrainean carrier Luhansk Airlines is applying to the state authorities to be allowed to unite with Luhansk Airport, in southwestern Ukraine.
Neither the airline, nor the airport can be operated profitably as separate companies, while a joint ownership would bring new possibilities, the parties claim.
Set up in 1998, Luhansk Airlines operates a small fleet of three AN-24.
Luhansk Airport has one 2,880 m runway, and besides Luhansk Airlines' traffic, Georgian National Airlines operates a daily flight bewtween Tblisi and Lugansk.
