May 30, 2007 (newstodate): Russia's S7 Group has placed an order for 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and secured purchase rights for 10 additional 787 aircraft.
The 787 will replace S7's fleet of ageing twin-aisle airplanes and provide capacity for growth.
S7 thus becomes Russia's first Boeing Dreamliner customer after Aeroflot decided in favour of the Airbus A350XWB.
Rollout and first flight of the 787 are scheduled for later this year, followed by entry into service in May 2008.
The first seven aircraft for S7 Airlines are slated for delivery in 2014.
